Ancient Irish Trees Art Book
I am delighted to be associated with this wonderful project by Mayo-based artist Alexandra Van Tuyll. 'Ancient Irish Trees' takes us on a journey through the life-cycle of thirteen native Irish trees, each tree being depicted in winter, spring, summer and autumn. This book is one of reflection and allows space for readers to record their own thoughts and reflections.
The proceeds from sales of this book will be shared by the Rape Crisis Centres and Hospices in the West of Ireland. I would like to record the gratitude of these organisations for Alexandra's kindness in funding the entire project ensuring that 100% of the proceeds go directly to each local organisation.
Alexandra's determination to see this project through to conclusion in the face of the Covid-19 crisis has resulted in a wonderful thought provoking journal depicting her paintings and reflections.
It is clear that Alexandra is a kind and generous woman with an impressive record of using her skills as an artist to support charities across Ireland including a very successful book 'Sea meets Land' in 2012 in support of the RNLI.
The work carried out by Rape Crisis Centres and Hospices across the country impacts on us in different ways. Rape Crisis Centres help heal and give a voice to those affected by sexual violence and abuse. Hospices provide palliative care ensuring dignity and respect to those near the end of their lives. By purchasing this book, you are helping to maintain those services in your community.
